Sean Gray Chief Executive

Sean has over 15 years’ experience in leading positive change for consumers within the prosthetics, disability, health and medical device industries. Sean is a proud member of the Be.Accessible Fab 50 network and has a Masters in Business Administration from Macquarie Graduate School of Management and a bachelor degree in Applied Sciences from Massey University. At his heart, Sean is a consumer advocate and likes to use commercial approaches to get good outcomes for disadvantaged groups.

Jeremy Speight Chief Financial Officer

Jeremy joined our National Office team in May 2016.

Jeremy is a Chartered Accountant and comes from a Business Advisory background through KPMG.  Since leaving KPMG, Jeremy has spent the major part of his career working in the private sector, which has given Jeremy a strong commercial background.  Jeremy has a passion to work alongside organisations as a trusted business partner.

As Chief Financial Officer, Jeremy provides financial, analytical, governance and operational guidance to NZALS to ensure scarce resources are utilised in the most effective manner and to provide the foundations for a world class amputee centred service delivery across New Zealand.

Julia Kelly Human Resources and Workforce Planning Manager

An HR professional with over 13 years’ international HR experience in generalist, operational and strategic positions across the Public, Private and Financial Sectors.  Expertise in guiding organisations and providing high level practical, commercial and strategic input to enable business leaders achieve their vision, goals and deliverables.  Julia has a Bachelor of Commerce & Administration and a Bachelor of Science from Victoria University.  I enjoy the opportunity to further enhance the reputation of NZALS by ensuring our workforce is appropriately skilled, challenged and motivated in order to get the best outcomes for amputees.

Megan Thornley Northern Regional Manager

Megan has over 20 years experience leading and delivering complex business change and IT projects in both consulting and industry environments, including 9 years in the NZ healthcare industry. 

Megan has a conjoint Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Science in Finance and Operations Research along with a Masters of Philosophy in Engineering with First Class Honours from the University of Auckland. 

Megan enjoys the mix of consultancy and manufacturing that the NZALS offers while striving to ensure an environment of continuous business improvement to provide better patient outcomes.

Laura Hillas Midland Regional Manager

Laura was appointed to the role of Manager in the Hamilton Centre in November 2015 where she succeeded Claude Dobbs.

Laura joined the Hamilton Centre in February 2015 as a Clinical Prosthetist. Previously, she practiced as a Senior Prosthetist in the United Kingdom at Otto Bock and RSL Steeper. 

Laura was then appointed to the role of Midlands Regional Manager in June 2016.

Laura is an Executive Committee Member for NZOPA.

Laura is very excited about this opportunity and looks forward to continuing on the good work from Claude in delivering a world class service to amputees.

Rebecca Grooby Central Regional Manager

Becky (as she likes to be referred) was appointed as NZALS’ Central Regional Manager in June 2017. She has a first class Science degree in Prosthetics from the University of Salford and is an accredited member of the NZOPA.

Becky first joined the Auckland team in January 2016, and prior to that she worked as a Prosthetist in Manchester UK.

Becky is excited to work alongside the Wellington team to continue to improve the service and to seek out new opportunities to provide the best results to our patients.

Matthias Blattner Southern Regional Manager

Matthias Blattner is a German trained Orthopaedietechnik Meister, certified Orthotist and Prosthetist with more than 15 years experience in manufacturing and fitting artificial limbs.

Matthias has worked for various companies in Germany, first as a Technician and then as Clinical Orthotist and Prosthetist.

He joined NZALS three years ago as a Clinical Prosthetist and was appointed as Southern Regional Manager in August 2016.

Matthias wants to make a significant contribution to the New Zealand Artificial Limb Service.

He has an absolute commitment to the best possible care for our patients and a passionate interest in improving the service.
